Location: Alpharetta, GA

Duration : 6+ months

 

Client is looking for Oracle DBA who can help them to take advantage of the features of Oracle 11g RAC to improve the performance and stability of the application.  They want someone who can learn the application and recommend better ways to leverage the DB technology (such as how they should implement partitioning, etc.) while also doing PL/SQL development.  The current resource whom we are replacing is more of an "order taker" as opposed to someone who can recommend improvements.

 

Development DBA – PL/SQL, Oracle 11g RAC

 

Description:

  • Perform hands-on software development and design (Oracle 11g RAC, PL/SQL)
  • Understand how data should be structured and levels of access appropriate for different resources for the various data segments
  • Develops and designs database architecture and data models
  • Create technical design documents
  • Create queries, stored procedures, scripts and other database components as required by design and with performance requirements in mind.
  • Maintain the integrity and security requirements of the data
  • Troubleshoot performance issues from the application layer down to the database layer including hardware
  • Identify problematic database components (tables, indexes, queries, pl/sql, etc) and tune/revise as needed.
  • Implement appropriate logging tools
  • Understand and utilize code management methodologies (RPR)
  • Follow established company and department standards and best practices
  • Work independently and within the team structure
  • Effectively work with customer to ensure data requirements are clearly defined
  • Independently provide time and resource estimates for assigned tasks/projects

 

Skills REQUIRED:

§  Must have Oracle 11g RAC experience including all new features and possible bugs

  • Must understands database performance and its role in overall application performance.

§  Must be able to interpret an explain plan and create meaningful solutions from the output for tuning of queries

§  Must be able to write complex PL/SQL packages at an application level, including multi-threading

§  Have utilized various table partitioning and sub-partitioning strategies

§  Must be at least familiar with ETL solutions, preferably have experience with creating  ETL solutions

§  Must know how to generate, read and utilize AWR reports

§  Must be team oriented and able to work with application developers

§  Must have excellent communications skills with the ability to discuss solutions at the business level
