Brief Preview:

The Storage Engineer will support the Storage Area Network (SAN) for a large Pharmaceutical Company. This will require the Engineer to have a broad understanding and background in storage systems such as EMC, Hitachi, and HP class and mid-tier storage arrays operation.

 

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record to deliver enterprise solutions, strong organization skills to prioritize work, balance and deliver on complex projects preferably in a Pharmaceutical environment.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

 

* 6 years of total experience

* 4 years of experience with UNIX, Linux, Windows, VMware and storage infrastructure and staff in an enterprise class company (1000+ persons, 500+ servers, multiple mid tier and enterprise class storage arrays).

* Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of complex storage systems

* Strong communication skills to communicate storage proposals to management and customers and provide storage diagnoses and resolution for current systems

* Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers, senior level personnel, subordinates and team members

* Experience with in system and remote replication strategies.

* Detailed technical knowledge of EMC, EVA, SUN and Hitachi enterprise class and mid-tier storage arrays, Veritas, NetBackup backup tape libraries.

* Technical knowledge of and experience with HP-UX, Linux (RedHat), Solaris 10, Microsoft Windows, and IP networking.

* Ability to make tactical decision and suggest long term strategies.

* Ability to integrate highly complex hardware and software systems

* Strong knowledge of and experience with SAN replication technologies such as Timefinder and SRDF

* Strong knowledge of and experience with NAS devices such as Celerra and NetApp.

* Strong knowledge of and experience with Brocade and Cisco fibre Channel switches.

* Experience with Perl scripting for the automation of configuration of devices and collection of data.

* Experience with data encryption for backup is a plus.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

* Provides system solutions for complex issues across the appropriate engineering environments to meet business requirements or enhance performance.

* Performance validation of SAN devices for meet Pharmaceutical quality management needs.

* Architect highly complex, global solutions across the appropriate engineering environments to meet business requirements or enhance performance.

* Provides escalated, highly complex technical support to management by investigating and resolving storage-related matters of significance.

* Plans, conducts and oversees the technical aspects of large, complex projects; coordinates the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects. Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and provides management overview.

* Develops and applies advanced methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of highly complex system requirements and problems. Develops documentation; oversees implementation of same.

* Provides complex technical consultation on current and proposed systems to management and peers.

* Work and mentor remote SAN engineers to improve their skill set, production and efficient
