The Finance department covers Product and Financial control. Both Product and Financial Control are jointly responsible for the integrity of the financial records.
Main Function
The Chorus BA will focus on gathering requirements for Chorus Book Opening Process which will aim to standardize the process; book opening templates and synchronize other like systems (Bookstatic and Pathfinder).
As in all business analysis roles, a high degree of flexibility is required. Projects sometimes involve travel and/or long hours at critical stages in the lifecycle.****
Main Duties
The role is to work on the project team for the CHORUS Book Opening and Hierarchy system. The key activities for the BA would be to ensure that:
Work with the user representatives to determine business requirements, where appropriate considers alternative methods of resolving business issues. This must involve a thorough consideration of all implications of these requirements to the business, including the identification of any potential issues or functional omissions.
fully document the analysis carried out, (this may include for example the production of Business Requirements, Current State, to Target State gap analysis, system flows; process flows; trade flows). The business analyst must be able to fully explain all diagrams and models to the business representative and end user, ensuring that they match the business requirements.
Documenting and managing all business issues arising from requirements gathering, prioritizing and then progressing and driving to resolution.
Ensuring the project is on target and communicate any issues/escalations upward to Project Manager.
Working with IT groups to convert requirements into solutions;
Providing business expertise to development staff, clarifying algorithms etc. as required.
Assisting in the preparation and execution of user acceptance testing.
Assisting the business representatives in developing user procedures and training packs.
Identifying analysis and design issues/risks on a timely basis and escalating to the project manager as appropriate.
Person Requirements
Essential –
· Degree in Accounting; Finance
· 4-8 years of BA work supporting Finance
· Good overall knowledge of Finance roles within Investment Banks (either Product Control or Financial Control), with an understanding of what the processes in each are.
· Project experience in implementation of a Finance system, ability to analyze a problem and write a BRD
· Strong PC skills and good understanding of computer systems generally.
· Organized and methodical approach coupled with an understanding of project methodologies.
¡ Broad knowledge of banking products
¡ Broad knowledge of technical processes – must have interfaced with technology groups and IT implementations
¡ Numerate, able to work with spreadsheets and perform financial analysis
¡ Good communication skills – ability to bridge the gap across various disciplinary areas (Ops; Line; IT).
Solid knowledge of IT: managing IT-oriented projects, users requirements / testing. Understanding of IT oriented methods and approach.
Book Opening Process
¡ Current state process globally for two pilot groups (across Finance, FO, Ops, Risk) .
¡ Gap to target state
¡ Recommendations for two pilot groups that propose a standard solution for a procss and template where Chorus becomes the standalone tool for book opening and all other bookopening systems are synchronized to Chorus
¡ Socialization to all other asset classes to ensure solution is fit for purpose – documentation of gaps
¡ Recommendations for hierarchy standardization across the three existing systems (Chorus, Bookstatic and Pathfinder).
Downstream System Analysis:
¡ Gap Analysis b/t US and other regions
¡ Gap Analysis b/t Equities/Credit and other Asset classes
¡ Determination of all downstream users of systems to be synchronized (Bookstatic and Pathfinder) and usage of fields
