Teradata Performance Tuning Specialist

Job Description:

• Must be Teradata certified and an expert in Teradata performance tuning
• Assess existing Teradata  relational and dimensional physical data models ,  as well as existing implemented Teradata relational and dimensional databases,  and recommend changes to achieve measurable, significant database performance improvements
• Establish, maintain and execute performance benchmarks to establish a performance baseline and trend subsequent performance improvements.
• Establish a Teradata Viewpoint based performance monitoring site
• Based on existing SLA's and actual and anticipated Teradata performance improvements, recommend revised and/or new SLAs.
• Propose, and negotiate performance enhancement changes into data models, ETL workflows and BI reporting,  by working with Data, ETL & BI architects
• Work load analysis and suggest/deploy improvements
• Query and Indexing optimization and fine tuning
• Database resource management
• Research and document performance metrics external to the Teradata systems (i.e. Network transport, etc)
• Working design and operational knowledge of BI reporting systems (preferably Oracle Business Intelligence EE)
