Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
• Display strong inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for applications and systems, determining cause and effect.
• Provide mentoring and leadership to fellow administrators, system programmers and others..Act as lead and direct other resources in support of project and operational activities.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Understand and apply advanced database administration, management and performance tuning techniques.
• Function as technical liaison for database related project activities..Lead design and code reviews, define standards, recommend and establish policies.
• Evaluate hardware and software requirements and be able to justify purchase decisions.
• Configure and tune hardware and software to insure optimum performance and resource utilization.
Functional/Technical Skills (Must have's):
• Be able to work with little or no supervision and provide directions to peers.
• Ability to write and present reports and interact with vendors and senior management.
• Expert knowledge of MS SQL Server 2000, 2005, & 2008 including:
o Debugging and performance tuning stored procedures, UDFs and triggers
o Index analysis
o Data normalization
o Various monitoring and tuning tools such as Profiler, Spotlight

o Advanced installation and configuration procedures
o Hardware, including clusters, RAID, multi-processor architecture, etc.
o Database replication
o VBScript and advanced DTS, SSIS package design
o Networking and how it relates to SQL Server connectivity
o Shell scripting (i.e. command line applications, batch files, etc.)
• Excellent understanding of Windows 2008 and Windows 2003

Experience:
• Ten plus years experience in a large scale SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008 environments.
• Advanced knowledge of multi-node clustered SQL environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows 2000, 2003 and 2008 server.
Education/Vocational Training:
• A four year degree in computer science or equivalent is desired

Functional/Technical Skills:
