POSITION SCOPE: Dean Foods is currently seeking a position for a SQL Database
Administrator, to join us in our ongoing efforts to improve the company’s operational efficiencies through technological advancements. The SQL DBA is primarily responsible for the implementation of SQL 2008 database system software and for the design, monitoring, integrity and placement of data files and for the coordination of overall data requirements. The SQL DBA will also be responsible for coding, monitoring and tuning database objects for optimal performance, providing support for design, development and implementation of application development projects, making recommendations regarding acquisition of software, and for accommodation of growth. Additionally, the DBA is responsible for the definition, organization, supervision, and protection of data in order to provide quality, sharable, and accessible data throughout the companies’ datacenter and remote sites. The DBA establishes and implements policies and procedures to support the mission of Data Administration program as established by IT Operations.
You will have the opportunity to work on the following requirements:
a. Install and upgrade databases, application software and other software related to database management system administration.
b. Create, configure and modify database objects, storage parameters, and other database parameters or objects as necessary.
c. Provides database design, implementation, and detailed SQL coding and integration skills to meet the established deliverable time.
d. Optimize and secure SQL Server environments, including Microsoft Reporting, Analysis, and Integration Services.
e. Provide technical advice on database and application software interface issues.
f. Provide technical analysis of existing database design and monitor and tune databases to optimize performance.
g. Strong Windows experience and virtualized environments h. Establish and maintain database policy and standards.
i. Generate database schema definitions and modifications as required.
j. Work with System Engineers to implement database backup and recovery procedures for a 24x7 production architecture.
k. Advise, implement and maintain change control procedures for database and applications in the development, test and production environments.
l. Provide recommendations for database and application software technology enhancements.
m. Advise on application database design issues and interfaces.
n. Perform database tuning analysis and implement performance enhancements. o. Establish and maintain database security with focus on the relationship with
applications.
p. Generate system performance statistics reporting for management.
q. Maintain database release level certification and application level certification.
r. Coordinates project activities with an emphasis on quality and meeting timelines, ensuring successful implementations, which are focused on positive impact and response from both an internal and external perspective.
s. Uses approved methodologies, techniques, and standard best practices in order to
effectively manage software for integration of code and customization, in order to minimize the resources required for migration to vendor released upgrades and patches.
t. Maintains awareness of project status, identifying conflicts and proactively communicating them to the appropriate individuals/department(s).
AT A MINIMUM YOU SHOULD HAVE:
a. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience b. 5+ years of experience in same or similar type of work
c. Must have a strong background working with Data Connection technologies like ODBC, JDBC and OLEDB
d. Must have a strong background in design, development and implementation with
Relational Database Management Systems experience.
e. Experience with the Windows 2003/2008 operating systems including Server versions. f. Experience with MS SQL Server 2000, 2005/2008 R2 database administration.
g. Experience maintaining High Availability databases (Clustering and Mirroring)
h. Previous experience in performance and tuning SQL applications.
i. Experience with change control management and interfaces for database and application migrations.
j. Exposure to best standard practices for database applications, VMWare, Hyper-V, virtualization and Windows administration in mission critical systems.
k. Strong working knowledge of remote data transfer applications and components.
TERM:
a. The contract shall be in effect until 12/31/2012 to one year. The services outlined will commence immediately after completion of negotiations and award of contract.
b. Dean Foods reserves the right to extend the contract for additional time, subject to the mutual agreement between Dean Foods and the supplier.
