Role: Teradata DBA

Location: Richmond, VA

Duration: 1 year+

 

Required:

 

Responsible for the design, development and administration of transactional and analytical data constructs/structures. Included within those responsibilities are the areas of data access and delivery technologies. Includes Oracle, Teradata. DB2, SQL Server, and DMS II. Duties include performance tuning, monitoring, software installs and upgrades, UNIX shell scripting, and physical and logical database design. Some Oracle and Teradata databases are very large, with a minimum size of 500 GB and 1000 users. Familiarity with ETL Tools like AbInitio, DataStage, Informatica, etc. Familiarity with Web Applications
Hands on experience with Microsoft Windows XP or higher version. Hands on experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

Provide Database Administration support for very large databases in a Teradata environment. The ideal candidate will have a very well rounded understanding of the complete Teradata environment. Job will include the following types of tasks
- Design, Creation, maintenance, and support of database objects based on architectural guidelines and standards
- Physical database design
- Development of proactive processes for monitoring capacity and performance
- Perform system level and application level tuning
- Support application teams related to database application development

Basic Qualifications

- Strong Knowledge of Teradata database concepts and Physical database design
- 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (Minimum 4 years of experience as a Teradata Database Administrator)
- Two or more years experience in a Unix environment
- Experience with databases larger than 10TB
- Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

- Excellent communication, organizational, and personal skills
- must be a good team player
- VBA/UNIX Shell scripting would be a plus
- Multi RDBMS Administration Experience would be a plus
- Database performance tuning / SQL tuning skills preferred

Preferred Certifications:
- Teradata Masters certification
- Any RDBMS Certifications would be additional plus
