Requirement: Oracle / Sybase Database Administrator

Role: Oracle / Sybase Database Administrator

Location: Atlanta, GA

Duration: 6 -24 months


 

Description

·         Performs Database Administration tasks on Oracle and Sybase Database Servers in compliance with IT and SOX controls and procedures

·         Installs software, creates and configures Oracle and Sybase Databases

·         Promotes DDL to QA and Production databases

·         Ensures Database backups and maintenance occur per schedule

·         Performs problem determination and problem resolution for Oracle and Sybase  databases; interfaces with programmers and vendor to open and resolve support cases

·         Performs performance monitoring and tuning of Database Instances and SQL statements

·         Business Recovery and Disaster Recovery Planning and Support  for Oracle and Sybase databases

·         Monitors environment to proactively prevent problems

·         Rotates On-Call Duties with Other DBAs

Required

·         Bachelors in Computer Science/Information Technology – or Equivalent Work Experience

·         At least four years of experience supporting Oracle and Sybase databases

·         Experience in supporting time-sensitive, mission-critical Database Systems

·         Excellent problem solving ability

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Good interpersonal skills and the ability to foster team coordination and collaboration

·         Strong SQL Skills

·         Clear Understanding of Database Design, Referential Integrity, and Application-Development Life Cycle


Preferred

·         Sybase replication

·         Professional certifications in Oracle and Sybase Database Administration

·         Knowledge of AIX, Linux, SAN, TSM, TOAD, and HP Service Manager

·         Experience with other relational databases (DB2 LUW, MS SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
