High Level Requirement in GEM

Switch to Windows/SQL Data Center license model for cost savings.

Upgrade to SQL2012/Denali implementation which will provide active-active support, better fault tolerance and capacity upgrades.

 
Scope

• Convert the SQL Server Databases used by ecommerce platform to Denali .
• Implement mirroring to be Active Active. Currently it is Active Passive.
• Fix all the warnings\analysis issues pointed out by conversion Analyzer.
• Currently most of the stored procedures use SQL 2000 features. We need to change a definite number of stored procedures to use
• Denali features. Eg:- Replace insert and update with merge that came in previous version of SQL.
• The budget allocated for this activity will decide how many we are going to modify.
• Re implement the Product catalog replication in Denali.
• Re factor and Performance tune the Product catalog job.
• Migrate the development environment to Denali and test the website.
• Migrate the system test environment to Denali and provide testing support.
• Migrate the performance testing environment and provide testing support.  Any performance issues pointed out needs to be fixed.
• Implement the migration in production.
