Position: Oracle DBA

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Duration: 1+ Years

 

Job Description:
Skills Required: o Strong understanding of the different storage options used in an Oracle Database. (ASM, Cooked File systems etc.) o Experience in capacity planning, to include database design strategies. o Experience tuning 11g Rel 2 databases. Experience in performance tuning of views/tables/materialized views/queries and indexes. o Experience with backup & recovery strategies (RMAN, cold backups, hot backups exports, data Pump & Data Guard). o Knowledge & experience in how to recover a database/table/tablespaces using the above mentioned methods. Experience with database monitoring tools, Grid Control. o Experience working with large Oracle databases in Solaris/Linux/AIX environments. o Experience in installing/patching/upgrading Oracle software as well as offering assistance with PeopleSoft application patching. o Experience in refreshing databases across similar and dissimilar hardware. Experience in writing Unix shell scripts with ksah/bash. o Experience managing at least one of the PeopleSoft applications, with a preference for HRMS. Experience with Oracle Applications would be an added advantage to any potential candidate.

 

Experience Required:

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related area • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the technical environments as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. • Must have sufficient educational background and/or experience to qualify incumbent to work on most phases of database administration. • 8 to 10 years of database management experience. • Significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the database management field is required. • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers and department staff, as described above. • Must possess the ability to communicate well with others, to perform work in a team environment, direct and act as a resource for less experienced network administrators and relay necessary information as appropriate. • Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery. • Strong troubleshooting skills within and outside database environment. • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of database internals and data structures. • Solid understanding of various business practices and process flows. • Knowledge of Engineering methodology, Software Engineering principle and Application design. Deliverables: Excellent database administrative experience and knowledge to be able to support PeopleSoft Database environment The successful candidate for this position should be an Oracle Database Administrator who has experience in Oracle PeopleSoft HR and Financial database environments, preferably with formal training in both Oracle/PeopleSoft as well as Oracle Database Administration (Oracle 10g/11g) .
