TitleVMWare/Linux Opening

Location:  Mahwah, NJ

Duration:  6+ months

Shift:  2nd shift (4pm-12am – Tuesday-Saturday)

All new hires are required to work 1st shift for two week orientation period

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include maintenance of hardware/software configurations for Red Hat Linux enterprise systems located within a Data Center. Ability to generate, install, implement and maintain system-level software packages such as OS, Clustering, disk and file management, backup, web applications, DNS, programming languages such as c, Perl, Shell and secure shell. Develop, install and maintain utility programs/shell scripts used to manage application start, stop, end-of-day, monitoring and failure/recovery. Provide automated solutions. Experience with OS Config management tools such as puppet. Provide technical assistance to development for hardware/software selection, support personnel for system repair and operations personnel for problem management. Strong understanding of VMware infrastructure. Design/Build/Administer servers through VMware ESX server and VMware Virtual Center. Implement automated solutions and policies to reduce administrative efforts. Monitor utilization, capacity growth and performance across several sites. Work with Network, SAN and backup teams effectively in building and maintaining VMware environments. Experience in an ESXi-vSphere 4.1

 

Evaluate new technology and tools to identify cost efficient solutions to the management and operation of computer systems. Work closely with program management team to define project requirements, assist with project coordination, evaluate hardware requirements and recommend computing solution. Support all aspects of project life cycle through ITIL based Configuration, Change, Service, Incident and Problem management. Support operational, failure/recovery and performance testing in both the test and production environments. This position is in Mahwah, NJ. This is a 2nd shift 4-12PM, Tue-Sat.

 

Required Skills:

• 6+ years experience as a Senior Systems Architect/Programmer/Administrator/Engineer

• 4+ years experience working with Unix/Linux as Systems Engineer.

• At least 2 years experience as a VMware Engineer/Architect.

• Experience as a Windows Engineer working with  AD/DNS/DHCP

• Experience working with OS config management tool.

• 2 years experience with TCP/IP networking

• 4 years System Administration experience in a 24x7-production environment dealing with 500+ servers

• 2 years experience with n-Tiered architecture

• Solid Linux/VmWare and Windows Engineering experience.
