JOB Title: Cognos Developer
Location: Dallas, TX
Duration: 6 Months
The Cognos Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining Cognos reports from relational and multi-dimensional data sources.
Education/Experience
Bachelor degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
5+ years Cognos experience required
Responsibility level
Self-motivated, creative, dynamic individual with a positive attitude able to work with minimal direction from supervisor
Skills
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills (Required)
• Ability to work independently and manage one's time (Required)
• Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback (Required)
• Knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in production of Cognos data models and reports (Required)
• Knowledge of Cognos 8.4 Framework Manager, Report Studio and Transformer (Required)
• Strong SQL skills for development of custom SQL and reporting views (Required)
• Demonstrated experience with web application development using ASP.NET and JavaScript (Required)
• Knowledge of Cognos 8.4 Metric Studio and Event Studio (Preferred)
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interact with business unit users for requirement gathering and development process
• Use Cognos 8.4 Framework Manager to build models, packages and publish packages
• Use Cognos 8.4 Report Studio to develop standard and complex reports
• Create cubes based on business requirements and create the related drill-through reports
• Mentor other developers for support of newly created reports
• Create technical specifications and documentation
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English
