Title: Logical/Physical Data Modeler
Contract length: 9 plus months contract
Location: Minneapolis MN

Job Summary:
The Logical/Physical Data Modeler will be responsible for the design and development of the logical and physical data model based on clients source systems
Key Responsibilities:
· Create the physical data model with a data modeling tool like ERWin, Power Designer, etc.
· Modify the physical data model for efficient data access paths.
· Generate and execute DDL to create databases, tables, and views.
· Identify and create primary indexes, partitioned primary indexes, secondary indexes, join indexes, and all other needed indexes.
· Identify statistics columns, and create and execute collect statistics statements.
· Identify and create necessary associative tables, data constraints, and multi-value compression.
· Recommend and establish standards, guidelines, and procedures for design and maintenance.
· Work in a collaborative manner to contribute to a common set of physical and semantic data modeling standards, best practices and design patterns
· May require working collaboratively with business intelligence independent software vendors (ISVs) to reverse engineer their data structures into physical data models, and optimize them for Teradata
Skills & Attributes:
· In depth knowledge of the Teradata Database.
· Experience working with Relational DBMS and associated applications
· In depth knowledge of one or more data modeling tools like ERWin and the customization required to create DDL for Teradata.
· Work successfully on large enterprise wide modeling projects
· Experience with the development and implementation of physical and dimensional models in a sophisticated production environment
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration
· 5 + years of Teradata and Data Warehouse experience required
· 5 + years’ experience in advanced data modeling skills
· Industry knowledge in retail
· Experience in implementing physical model on relational databases.
· Knowledge of SQL to analyze databases
Preferred Qualifications:
· Proven experience with enterprise wide logical models such as Teradata Industry LDMs .
· Understanding of the concepts of normalization
· ETL experience and involvement in the design of work and staging tables
· Data profiling
· Project leadership experience
· Logical data modeling skills
· Knowledge of Oracle and DB2
