The Storage Engineer will help develop enterprise technology configuration standards and adapt enterprise solutions to specific business related requirements. The candidate will participate on a technology infrastructure team to implement enterprise and customer specific technologies into a managed production environment.
The candidate will drive storage related technology lifecycles. This includes sun-setting of current technologies, development of new/replacement technologies as well as working with the architecture team to review emerging technologies.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the storage infrastructure in the development environment and making all required changes, tracking and allocating available resources enterprise wide, tracking reserved and used resources enterprise wide and opening service requests with AA’s managed service providers for deployment into managed production environments.
Technical Requirements
· Minimum of 5+ years experience with Storage related technologies.
· Expert knowledge of Storage Technologies (Disk, RAID, SAN, NAS, SCSI, HBAs, fibre, Switched vs. Loop, Serial ATA, etc).
· Minimum 3+ year’s experience on EMC VMAX, VNX (Unified Storage), Fibre Channel Switches (Brocade / CISCO).
· Prefer experience with EMC Recover Point using Native storage, Brocade splitter & Cisco SAN Tap.
· Good Knowledge about virtual tier, Virtual LUN & Virtual Pool concepts.
· Knowledge about multiprotocol Network file system shares using LDAP authentication.
· Working knowledge of storage product suites and technologies from EMC, HP, Sun and VERITAS (Symantec).
· Working knowledge about data migration for block & file level storages.
· Knowledge of storage subsystems feature set (snapshot, Cloning, data replication, BCV, SRDF, etc).
· Understanding of SAN architecture, topologies and best practices. (fan in/out ratios, LUN masking, fibre specs, switch specifications, SAN security/Port Zoning, core-to-end, n-tier, etc).
· Understanding of Storage maintenance best practices.
· Familiarity with Security Principles and methods.
· Solutions focused with Enterprise perspective (reusable).
· Understanding of server hardware platforms and related operating systems.
· Understanding concepts of N-Tier architectures.
· Ability to develop strategic technical documentation ( standards documents, procedural documents).
