Java Developer

 

Reports to:                         Sr. Development Director; Electronic Arts – Game Services

Based in:                              NJ, USA

# of people :                      5 Developers & 2 Testers

Duration :                            6 to 12 months (extendable)

Selection :                           Customer will interview (Phone screen followed by written test and coding test onsite)

 

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

EA is seeking a Software Engineering to develop server infrastructure related to online gaming. The systems developed by Game Services are leveraged by titles throughout all EA studios. The broad range of Game Services systems is responsible for include highly scalable online features such as rating and statistics systems, achievements, friends (social graph), messaging and much more.

 

You have a passion for highly-scalable server applications and solve problems with smart architecture and algorithm design, building systems that last. You've worked across a range of server technologies from low-level sockets, to  replication architectures to high-level frameworks. You're thrilled to move your code into production and ship a compelling and innovative feature. You're looking to make significant contributions, solve hard problems, and work in a fun and healthy environment with excellent peers. You are first and foremost a top-notch engineer and will spend much of your time coding, but are also responsible for the talent management and mentoring of your team.

 

Qualifications

•                      4+ years of professional development experience in Java

•                      Broad understanding of scalable server technology and techniques

•                      Excellent debugging and optimization skills working in a multi-threaded environment

•                      Ability to write technical design documents which other engineers can implement

•                      Strong creative problem solving abilities

•                      Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent

•                      Familiarity with the LAMP stack

•                      Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, principles and solutions

Expert at one or more of these skills:

•                       Java Web Frameworks (Jetty, Tomcat, Spring)

•                       Databases (MongoDB, MySQL)

•                       Message buses (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Tibco, JMS, AMQP)

•                      For Test: JUnit, JMeter, Selenium and SSSPR testing skills. Also expect to conduct functional tests as well.
