COGNOS 8.3 PLANNING DEVELOPER – Burbank, CA – 12 Months
The Assignment
Ø Duration: 6 month commitment, but they could be there up to 18 months
Ø Interview Process: 60 minute phone tech screen, if that goes well 60-90 minute in person/Skype
Ø Hours: Must be able to be on site – BURBANK, CA office - Monday 9:00am to Friday 5:00pm
The Environment:
Our client, a leading entertainment company, is one of the largest Cognos Users in the country; they have seventy (70) separate models and support over 25 business units which are all integrated. Cognos is split into different areas; reporting and analytics, they need people with specific planning experience. They use Informatica as their ETL and they interface to SAP and many other systems, both custom and package.
They are using Cognos 8.3, which is an older version and the candidates must be comfortable working with this release for the next year at least. Please no V10 or TL Version Folks, it is way different I guess.
The right candidate will have strong hands experience working with:

Access Tables
Multi Currency Functions
Business Processes such as:
o Compared Variances
o Actual vs. Budgeted
o Model to Model Integration
o Admin Link
Stress Testing
Unit Testing
Error Logs
Run Books
Creating Technical Specifications
These candidates will not be working directly with the business users but will be integrating and collaborating with the Process, Reporting and Data Teams on a regular basis.
They want people that have worked on large and complex systems, no small potato accounts. They want people who can figure things out, this is not a spec type of environment, every job is custom and requires analysis. They like people who speak their mind and provide ideas. They want process oriented thinkers, not coders.
