Application Development Tech Lead

The successful candidate will ensure that technology and product standards are defined and delivered to meet business and client expectations. The lead will interact with the Platform Management, QA, GIO, UXD, and Program Management teams to establish development objectives and timelines, managing resources to support timely delivery of product requirements. This role will be focused on maintaining and enhancing the searching capability of over a billion documents within our global platform.

What you’ll be doing:
• Provide overall technical leadership to a development team, accountable for their performance, productivity, and quality of output.
• Partner with QA and other development leads to promote and monitor adherence to practices and standards that ensure quality solutions are delivered to the customer.
• Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members to achieve business and customer results, and to ensure continual improvement of the team’s technical skills.
• Develop performance testing plans for the application team, managing execution against the plan, and measuring results.
• Ensure that software can be deployed effectively and reliably to QA and production.
• Support the overall business objectives by ensuring development estimates are accurate, technical designs are sound, and development resources with the correct skills are assigned to projects.
• Provide input on technical feasibility and complexity for new products/product features
What you’ll bring to the role:
• 8 – 10 years of software development experience; at least 3 years in a web deployed application environment.
• 2 years of technical lead, project management, or software development management experience.
• 5+ years experience with web and Internet technology including SaaS experience. Bachelors or in computer science, engineering, or equivalent
• Experience with web-based component frameworks, Java, Apache and Tomcat , XML and SQL/Databases
• Strong knowledge of various platforms, the agile software development life cycle (SCRUM) and agile product development methodologies and programming languages.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate complex concepts to a wide audience including both business and technical stakeholders in various geographies.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress, rapidly changing environment
• Ability to think "outside of the box" to solve complicated business problems with elegant solutions
