The Websphere Systems Engineer Consultant will perform detail design and implementation of infrastructure needed to support Websphere deployment.

 

• Should be able to define conceptual/logical and physical infrastructure architecture for the solution and have experience defining these on at least 2-3 projects successfully 
• Responsible for architecture definition of environments (development through to production), under direction of Technical Architect.
• Responsible for technical discovery of infrastructure concerns, such as network perimeter definition, VIP configuration, firewall rules, ports, etc.
• Familiarity with defining infrastructure around Unix/Linux system from an OS perspective and blades or similar hardware components.
• Develop standards and operational procedures around operational monitoring of infrastructure components such as disk space, CPU/ram usage etc.
• Experience managing environments from an operational perspective is desirable.

Preferred Skills:

 

• Experience with portal or application server platforms such as WebSphere, Weblogic or similar and tuning JVM's from an infrastructure config perspective
• Experience with designing systems for high availability and scalability 
• Familiarity on build automation tools Maven/Ant, Team city etc.
• Experience with operational and monitoring tools such as nagios or similar.
• Perform deployments using "scripted was" tools with knowledge of automation through jython.

Soft skills

·         Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with senior stakeholders and facilitate conversations/decisions.

·         Ability to plan work independently and communicate risks/issues with meeting the plan.
