Job Description :

As a member of the software development staff the Java developer will deliver projects that include both web technologies and business layer logic. Technologies used will include web-based component frameworks, Java, and Javascript. Both will rely heavily on XML and medium to large-scale client/server *nix-based platforms. Candidates must be able to handle a high-workload, and be able to manage multiple projects concurrently

The Senior Developer, Application Development will report directly to the Manager, Application Development.

Key Responsibilities/Job Scope:

Designs and implements applications that conform to a business need. Maintains a business perspective in terms of understanding how systems are implemented to satisfy corporate goals.
Technical contributor on medium-scale projects, resolves issues, performs appropriate level of research to determine solutions, prioritizes and suggests technical approaches to business requirements.
Is responsible for the design and implementation of life cycle of a system or feature. A Senior Software Developer generates design documents, provides rough order of magnitude estimates, implements, and performs unit testing.
Should feel that the quality of his/her work is a direct result of his/her own testing. Systems developed should behave to a high standard of quality.
Proposes, develops, reviews, and revises new procedures as needed for the continuing development of high quality systems.
Works on multiple projects at one time, balancing needs and deadlines.
Can troubleshoot problems of a complex nature. Supports systems that she/he has not implemented.
Provides technical guidance and training to other team members.
Shares architecture proposals formally with the team in meetings.
Keeps informed of technical advances. Proposes changes based on newer technology
May be asked to research or investigate business opportunities that have no clear direction
May be involved in testing beyond unit testing (e.g. integration testing with a remote location, capacity testing)
Required Skills
Experience with web-based component frameworks, Java, Apache and Tomcat , XML and SQL/Databases; Tapestry experience desirable.
Experience with a distributed team model, including successful consensus-building.
Ability to work effectively with outside contractors.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Capable of functioning independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast paced, high stress, rapidly changing environment with frequently conflicting priorities.
Ability to work with remote technical teams.
Bachelors or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent is required.
