6 mo Data Warehouse Programmer/Analyst - Lead
The DMS Infrastructure DBA group within IT/ETS needs to fill a 6 month Data Warehouse Programmer/Analyst - Lead position.  The candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will need to start as soon as possible.
Work Summary
 
The Data Warehouse Programmer/Analyst – Lead – provides technical expertise to the development and implementation of solutions using basic dimensional modeling techniques.  The incumbent provides business expertise of the development of Business Intelligence solutions, technical support for existing Data warehouse ETL processes and makes recommendations for improvements in these areas, if necessary.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidates will be responsible for:
·        Enhance existing home grown ETL applications using Oracle PL/SQL for the IT Data Manager view scores online for Praxis, GRE and TOEFL programs.
·        Full functional knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts, development, and design
·        Provides technical expertise to the development and implementation of solutions using basic dimensional modeling techniques. Make recommendations for improvements in these areas, if necessary.
·        Ability to develop and support data extracts, data transfers, and load jobs
·        Development of ETL solutions for legacy and new development
·        Provide business expertise for the development of Business Intelligence solutions.
·        Provides technical support for existing Data Warehouse ETL processes.
·        Assures quality of design and implementation of projects.
·        Trouble-shoots application software/hardware problems as they apply to design, implementation, or installation activities.
·        Schedules and coordinates application maintenance activities.
·        Participates in on-call, overnight off-hour production problem resolution activities when required.
·        Follows DMS related standards and procedures, knows where they are located, and incorporates them. Follows Corporate software development processes.
·        Researches, evaluates, and tests new software and DW related tools and facilities as they pertain to the existing DW environment and applications.
·        Monitors current DW applications and develops procedures, where necessary, to improve the DW environment as required.
·        Identifies and supports quality improvement initiatives.
·        Performs other assignments to comply with the IT corporate purpose and mission to add business value, increase revenue, decrease costs, improve productivity, and support the strategic initiative/directive.
·        Complies with all Corporate security and audit standards.
·        Manages the work of Corporate vendors to achieve quality results at a market based price using IT policies and procedures.
·        Transact SQL a plus
 

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience:  The ideal candidate must have at least 8 – 10 years of experience in IT or a related field. The candidate must have 5+ years of applicable Data Warehouse experience and Oracle programming tools.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
·        Must have extensive knowledge in Oracle database programming skills with Oracle and PL/SQL
·        Must have extensive technical skills in Linux environment
·        Strong knowledge of Linux shell scripting
·        Must have experience with Data Warehouse implementations and ETL skills
·        Autosys Job Scheduler
·        Linux Sync sort
·        Micro Focus Cobol preferred but not required
·        Follow Change Control concepts and policies
·        Ability to work with offsite Vendor Technical Support for problem resolution
·        Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
·        Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical expertise
·        Microsoft SSIS knowledge a plus
     


Education
A Bachelors degree with extensive coursework in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
