Senior Java Developer - Minneapolis, MN - 1 Year - Locals Preferred

Hello Partners,

 

We are looking for a Sr. Java Developer with 8+ years of experience.

 

Position: Senior Java Developer
Location: Minneapolis, MN

Duration: 1 year

Rate: $ 65 – 70 / hr

Locals only as the interview will be phone screen followed by an in-person

Responsibilities: 

1. Will join the development team, with focus on complex J2EE high-volume transactional applications.  Work environment may include a mix of agile and UP programming methodologies, collaborative work environment, and iterative development with a high level of team interaction.

2. Primary responsibility will be collaborative J2EE development on our core payment processing applications, including instrumentation for performance and monitoring for event-driven transaction processing software, as project tasks dictate.  Significant emphasis on development of high performing, high-volume transaction processing code.

3. Develop software on WebSphere/Eclipse J2EE platform.

4. Works closely with the entire project community to define business and technical requirements for enterprise information systems or J2EE compliant applications. Communicates moderately complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

5. Proactive communication with team members and management is essential as some key tasks may include issue identification and resolution, status updating, analyzing and reporting on alternative design solutions, etc.

6. Performs research activities with a focus on complex business systems, automated systems development, enterprise information systems, and/or project enhancements with Bank and System-wide impact. Identifies and analyzes operational impacts of new projects, services, infrastructure, enterprise information systems, and automated systems.  Addresses moderately complex customer problems and/or issues as necessary.

7. Provides technical leadership.

8. Supports the manager with proposals for business system changes.  Provides input to the development and implementation of standards, procedures, and safeguards.

9. Assists in coaching/mentoring more junior developers in the development and implementation of automated solutions.

10. Responsible for estimating, tracking, and reporting status on tasks.

11. Development activities as project tasks dictate.

12. Participation in on-call rotation for after-hours support when system goes to production.

Required Skills and Experience:

The person selected will be part of a team developing software for our Core Payment Processing applications and will have experience with designing solutions crossing multiple platforms and technologies.  These projects involve taking an existing project plan and requirements and refining both through active communication with others on the team and project management.  The person must have demonstrated excellent application programming and testing skills, and superlative interpersonal and communication skills - must be a team player.  The person should have experience in developing high-volume transaction processing systems.  Specifically:

1. Require eight years of information technology experience to include six years application development and testing experience in a distributed environment with diverse technologies.

2. Require 5 years J2EE development experience.  Prefer WebSphere development experience.

3. Require 4 years UNIX experience (Solaris and/or AIX).

4. Require 3 years experience developing using Agile methodologies

5. Require formal training in object-oriented methodologies and 4 years experience with object-oriented design

6. Require demonstrated experience building and implementing software solutions and design patterns requiring complex technologies in an enterprise environment requiring integration between the mainframe and distributed platforms.

7. Must have experience resolving complex system problems in a team setting, including evaluation of options to determine optimal solution.

8. Prefer high-volume transaction processing experience (5,000+ transactions / second).  Should have experience with tuning high-volume applications for performance and instrumentation of code for tuning and monitoring.

9. Require 3 years Oracle development experience

10. Experience with JPA, Spring, WebSphere MQ (P2P and pub/sub), and Wicket a plus

11. Experience using Ant, Maven, and SVN (Subversion)

12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

   a. Strong conflict resolution skills using a win/win approach.

   b. Communicates proactively in a project environment with colleagues and management on a wide variety of project issues.  Key skills include mentoring experience, issue identification and resolution, status updating, and analyzing and reporting on alternative design solutions.

   c. Communicates effectively on complex technical matters to non-technical audiences, including the FRS business community.  Communications could include presentations, training, documentation, memos, etc.

13. Demonstrated skill in estimating and tracking progress of tasks, as well as in making recommendations for adjusting project plans as needed.

 Deliverables:

1. Ongoing input to the project leadership teams on critical tasks and/or issues.

2. Build of core payment processing services in a J2EE environment as project tasks dictate.

3. Tuning of application for high-volume transaction performance.

4. Integration of information across applications.

5. Develop software on WebSphere/Eclipse J2EE platforms.

6. Development and leadership tasks as assigned.
