 Mapping Specialist with ICD-10 ; health exp.

The responsibilities of the ICD-9-10 Code Mapping Specialist will include:

·          Managing special coding projects associated with ICD 9 to 10 coding transformation program which spans across all of the business units of the organization.

·          Utilizing several tools to create maps from the current ICD 9 codes to new ICD 10 codes to ensure compliance and drive the business to understand the optimal use of codes to reduce risk of over or underpayments.

·          Creating and following up on all coding projects related to the ICD 10 remediation program

·          Reviewing Medical Policies for coding gaps and alternatives

·          Designing ICD-10 Compliant Documentation Standards

·          Performing Forward and Backward ICD-10-CM mappings for any given ICD-9 code

·          Analyzing clinical accuracy of the code mappings and modify them to accommodate medical policies and benefit plans

·          Training other coders and employees of the organization as needed under the ICD 10 Education Program

 

Required Skills & Experience

Requirements for this position include:

·          Medical coding and billing including the ICD-9 and ICD-10 code sets

·          GEMs ICD-10 mapping

·          Medicaid and Managed Care

·          Microsoft office tools, specifically MS Excel, Project, Work, PowerPoint and Visio

·          Claims Analysis

·          Medicaid Managed Care claims adjudication and reimbursement rules

·          ICD Coding experience in a payer setting (preferred)

·          HLI Leap I-10 solution (preferred)

 

AAPC, AHIMA or other coding credentials or certifications (preferred)
