Position                 :               Back Up Engineer

Location :               Frederick, MD

Duration                :               12 months+

 

Description:

·         To provide Backup Management services, support and product support for HP Data Protector and Symantec Netbackup across may systems (Windows/Linux/Unix).

 

Responsibilities:

·         Provide technical support, guidance and direction for products supported. Experience in Installation and configuration of HP Data Protector and Symantec Netbackup.

 

Required Skills:

·         HP Data Protector, Symantec Netbackup, Windows/Linux/Unix

·         Sound Knowledge of Storage Libraries .

·         Hands-on experience on configuring tape-drives, media pools.

·         Troubleshooting all kind of Backup & Restore related failures.

·         Troubleshooting knowledge in Media, Drive and Tape library related issues.

·         Knowledge in NDMP, VTL, SAN Media servers, Vault and Duplication options.

·         Hands-on experience in scheduling backup jobs/policies.

·         Experience in managing critical restorations, database restorations.

·         Experience in installing, configuring and managing various Backup Agents and Option.

·         Knowledge on Disaster-Recovery procedures.

·         Analyse and resolution of escalated problems.

·         Audit application backup policies and environments to ensure integrity of backup and recovery activities.

·         Actively and pre-emptively determine possible faults and causes by the execution of pre-determined health and operational checks.

·         Manage and resolve problems identified by sys admins or monitoring software .

·         Experience with change and problem management tools.

·         Hardware / software fault detection and vendor liaison.

·         Analyse and resolve escalated problems within defined SLA.

·         Investigate, identify and document proposals that will improve application recoverability and performance.

·         Document and implement changes to technical standards as required.

·         Ensure that customer satisfactory levels are exceeded.

·         Has applied knowledge in the administration of windows and Linux/Unix systems.

·         Provide recommendations to improve the backup/recovery infrastructure, and address/lead critical issues and root cause analysis.
