There are 3 different positions, all located in downtown Boston. They require in-person face to face interview onsite in Boston after technical phone screen.
The client has a strong preference for financial services experience and managers doing the phone screen are very technical, but the contract will last at least 1 year.
Here are 3 descriptions.
- 1 year contract with Mutual Fund company building an asset allocation application
At least 7-9 years experience in hands on Java Development of complex, enterprise web applications
-Java, J2EE technologies - must be strong and know fundamentals
-Hibernate, Struts, JBoss, JSF/JSP
-Oracle backend, must have PL/SQL experience for stored procedures, cursors, etc.
-Unix, must be able to deploy applications on Unix
-This will be both back and front end development
-Candidate must be willing to learn and can pick up technologies quickly
-Financial services experience is highly preferable
-This is a long term, open ended contract (at least through end of year).
- 1 year contract building a Java Swing based portfolio modeling application
Senior Java developer with at least 8 years experience
Needs to be able to produce Java code in a fast pace environment for portfolio management and trading software.
Strong Java skill working with app servers (JBoss preferred).
Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL (oracle preferred).
At least 2 years Java Swing development preferred.
Strong problem solving and debugging skills required.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Designs, develops, enhances, debugs, and implements software.
Troubleshoots production problems related to software applications.
* Researches, tests, builds, and coordinates the conversion and/or
integration of new products based on client requirements.
* Designs and develops new software products or major enhancements to
existing software.
* Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple
platforms.
* Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for
improvements and enhancements.
- Sr Java Developer 1 year contract
Equity Trading team develops and supports custom applications used by the Equity Investment Management and Trading desks in Boston, London and Hong Kong. The Artis project team within IAS – Equity Trading is responsible for building the next generation trading applications for FMR. We are looking for a dynamic individual and highly talented candidate to play a key technical role on this team.
The qualified candidate must demonstrate expertise with the Java programming language and design patterns. Demonstrated experience designing components of service oriented and event driven architectures is required. Expertise on Unix and / or Linux platforms is also necessary.
The qualified candidate must be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment where learning new skills and understanding new system architectures quickly is a key to success.
While core programming and software design skills are central to the role, we are looking for a candidate with a broad set of skills that can contribute in many ways on many projects.
Detailed knowledge of the mutual fund business and / or trading is desired. Experience working with an off-shore development team is ideal.

- Collaborate with the Business Analysis team and Project Architect to help design and model application frameworks and business logic components for a new trading system

Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant development experience
- Working Knowledge of Java 6/7
- Working Knowledge of .Net, C# and WPF 3.5/4.0
- Expert in OOD and applying OOD Principles
- Expert in testing tools like Junit, EasyMock and Acceptance testing tools like Fitnesse/Cucumber
- Detailed experience with service oriented and event driven architectures (SOA and EDA)
- Skilled with SQL and Unix or Linux
- Experience with Spring, Hibernate and iBatis
- Familiarity with RMI, JMS, pub/sub protocols, message oriented middleware (TIBCO EMS, Rendezvous, etc) and UNIX networking
- Experience using Eclipse and SCM tools and techniques, preferably Clearcase
- Ability to understand existing code and refactor them as necessary
- A strong contributor with a collaborative work style.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fluid organization where priorities shift to respond to changing business needs
- Significant knowledge of the Financial Services and Mutual Fund industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Useful Skills/Knowledge
- MS in Computer Science from a reputed university

- Experience working on trading systems
- Experience with In-Memory Database and / or distributed object cache systems (TimesTen, Oracle Coherence, Object Grid, Gem Fire Enterprise)
- Experience working with an off-shore development team
- Proficient in JMS Messaging using EMS
- Knowledge of Domain Driven Design
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration and tools like Hudson/Jenkins
