We have a very urgent requirement for Oracle DBA/ Database Operations Engineer, Beaverton, OR.

 

Role – Database Operations Engineer/ Oracle DBA

Term – 12 months +

General 


You'll be responsible for database performance monitoring, tuning, planning and problem resolution, as well as data dictionary administration.  Building-out database on Linux and Unix, data refreshes and database object version management.  This opportunity also involves handling database installations and configuring and tuning database backup/recovery. You'll review and tune data structures, design and SQL code written by others.  Strong PL/SQL to automate database object changes, database refreshes and supporting scripts. You'll act as a primary go-to to other application engineer and teams for database related issues. In addition, you'll monitor data architecture standards and conventions.

 

Database operations in supporting production and ongoing project/capability work in creating a digital commerce and sporting consumer experience leveraging Oracle 11g technologies including 11g RAC, Exadata, Streams and Goldengate. As our Oracle DBA you'll develop, manage, maintain and troubleshoot the production, development and testing of databases/data models that support worldwide n-tier applications and be responsible for data consistency and integrity. You'll work on complex projects and take responsibility for more diverse accountabilities by utilizing your specialized knowledge and strong competency with tools, systems and procedures. You'll provide technical design, development and proactive maintenance of databases and the associated master files to ensure accessibility, security and integrity of company data. You'll also model logical data and design, program and implement physical databases.

 

Support multiple Oracle 10g/11g high complexity databases (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds, Oracle RAC nodes and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users. Installation, maintenance, security, performance and tuning and related third party software, with emphasis on Oracle. Ensures proper backup and recovery procedures (including standards) for the Oracle databases. Ensures close technical interchanges on database related issues with system administrators, hardware engineers, project managers, and operations personnel as necessary.  Requires in-depth knowledge and experience in Oracle 11g and OLTP/OLAP domains; leverage Oracle best practices and knowledge of internal or external technical issues to improve products or services

 

Must-Have

  • Look for ways to enhance database build-outs and data refreshes; making database environment builds automated and self-servers, abstracting data-source parameters; experience with RAC implementation [11gR2 and minimum 3 years]
  • Providing solutions for optimizing database performance and concurrency; tuning the DB in RAC environment based on application performance and experience with using OEM and analyzing AWR
  • Experience in PL/SQL programming and shell scripting for Oracle 10g/11i environments;  experience in Oracle 10g and 11g [minimum 3 years] on Solaris / Linux platforms including DB installations and data refreshes
  • Experience with Oracle Streaming implementation in a production environment; OLTP/DW environments; RMAN backups and recovery
  • Excellent skills in writing, maintaining, testing and debugging code in applicable programming languages; ability to manage workload to deliver quality deliverables that meet requirements and timelines
  • Ability to estimate effort related to an assignment, to establish work plans, and to manage tasks to completion without detailed supervision

 

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with Oracle enterprise software applications or with reporting tools that require strong database programming support, is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Grid Control/Enterprise manager, Oracle Application Manager, Concurrent Manger, RMAN, and PL/SQL. Certification Requirements – Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline PLUS six years industry experience
  • Experience with Advanced Queue Implementation and Spatial Data

 

Responsibilities

  • Build database object change management, versioning and unified application builds tied to application and database object changes
  • Development and unit test database programs according to provided specification; requires in-depth knowledge and experience; Oracle 11g and OLTP/OLAP domains
  • Correcting defects related to database objects that are reported through QA and customer support channels
  • Participation in architecting database solutions for new functionality and assembling technical system documentation
  • Timely and accurate communication regarding status of assignments, reassessment of expectations, and risk to deliverables
  • Self-sufficient knowledgeable individual who is driven to succeed in a fast-paced environment; Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions
  • Implements and maintains smooth databases operations and physical design. Conducts performance tuning of indexes, procedures (application, pl/sql and batch) and databases in general; rxpert in database modeling, design and management using major Oracle, mySQL,Oracle Streams and GoldenGate
  • Maintains security and integrity controls. Manage policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization (Toad/OEM). Develop and improve stored procedures and/or triggers.
  • Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.  Implement new database technologies and upgrade existing technologies to stay current.
  • Develop, manage, maintain and troubleshoot production, development and testing f databases/data models that support worldwide n-tier applications and be responsible for data consistency and integrity. Work on complex projects and take responsibility for more diverse accountabilities by utilizing your specialized knowledge and strong competency with tools, systems and procedures.  Provide technical design, development and proactive maintenance.

  • Knowledge of and experience with SQL and PL/SQL, relational database and very large data principle and design; expert knowledge of enterprise integration, implementation of real-time data warehouses and ETL tools (Oracle Streams, GoldenGates)
