The Database Administrator is a contributing member of the Database Management Services Team.
The Database Administrator may be responsible for:
Providing SQL Server database administration, application tuning, database security and production support for critical systems with high availability requirements.
Installing, upgrading and maintaining SQL Server instances.
Planning and executing database backup and recovery Providing database tuning for performance and stability
Managing physical database design and implementation, database security implementation and monitoring
Using ConocoPhillips change management processes to prevent production disruptions and outages
Researching and recommending solutions that best meet business needs and Enterprise operational requirements
Partnering with other COP IT organizations to ensure quality support and delivery to the end-user.
This position participates in an on-call support for the critical systems.
Working with Application support, Server Support, Storage Support and Networking teams to tune and debug SQL Environment.
Ability and willingness to perform tasks outside normal business hours and on weekends as well as carry an on call pager.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Expert diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem solving for SQL Server versions 2005 and 2008R2
Ability to work effectively across time zones and geography
Self-directed and self-motivated to solve problems quickly and creatively
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Infrastructure support and design experience
Experience with SQL Server in the following areas:
SQL Server Clustering
Replication
Log Shipping
Experience in performance tuning
Advanced Backup and Recovery options
Advanced Configuration and Security
Analysis Services
SCOM monitoring of SQL Server Clustered environments
LiteSpeed
