This is a project based position for completing Windows 7 deployment. This individual needs to have packaged using standard tools in the past, not just admin SCCM.

Sr. Desktop Packager - The person filling this position will play a key role and is responsible for the development of software packages for windows

based desktops and laptops, including testing and distributing software to the workstations, through a formal release management process.

MUST HAVE PACKAGED applications, not just administered SCCM.

The application packaging engineer will be creating and maintaining automated installations using packaging tools and scripting.

The output of the packaging step are standard Microsoft Installer (MSI) files compatible with the Windows operating system and with SCCM.

The MSI files are subsequently tested and deployed to the enterprise desktops and laptops.

In this role, it will be necessary to support the application installation packages for Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager 2007, troubleshoot SCCM installation issues of the application packages, and develop best practices around software packaging, application deployment, and custom development in support of the application packages.

Tasks:
* Create and maintain SCCM packages, collections, advertisements, queries, reports and software
* Package proprietary business applications and off-the-shelf software for deployment and installation.
* Write or update installation instructions for business applications and off-the-shelf software.
* Plan and execute system acceptance of new application packages or existing application upgrade packages.
* Application compatibility testing and application deployment development and management.
* Development of processes to turn-over solutions to operations and support organizations
* Analysis of application software solutions, their impact on the production environment and regression testing against standard desktop and server configurations
* Design, develop, and manage software deployment packages and installer applications.
* Create, test, evaluate, and package software and applications for workstation distribution
* Maintain documentation e.g. for installing business applications, market data products and off-the-shelf software.
* Implement Patch Management and Software Distribution strategies, design, create, and support the Lab, Packaging, Test, and Production environments.
* Create and update technical documents as needed
* Repackage and test software
* Provide training and mentoring to other team members
* Team closely with SCCM group, product testers, application owners, and other technology management groups.

Skills:
* MSI application packaging experience is a MUST
* SCCM 2007 experience for deployment of packages
* AD / Exchange Windows experience
* Software package builds for use with SCCM / GPO deployment methods
* Office XP and 2003 and 2007 experience
* Windows XP/Vista/7 support
* Ability to work with and troubleshoot remote workstations regarding application installation issues
* Working knowledge of Windows automation scripting such as WMI, ADSI, VBScript, Batch Files, Windows Scripting Host, KIXTART, PERL, WISE

   Packaging Studio or Install Shield is required
* Experience in working with Microsoft windows registry system.
* 6+ years experience in and application packaging, testing, and deployment of at least 5,000 desktops
* Have the ability to work in a challenging environment under pressure situations with multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines.
* Maintain a positive attitude and good communication skills.
* Maintain professional demeanor and appearance at all times
* Build positive relationships with business units and other technical teams.
* High degree of self-motivation required, and must be able to work independently and as a team member
* Must be detail oriented, with strong verbal, written, analytical, and communication capabilities
* Ability to handle playing a key role in meeting rollout timelines and objectives provided by the business
* Demonstrated ability of following a work plan to meet milestones
* Experience with multi-site, large environment application package deployments
* Must have experience and working knowledge of scripting languages, multiple packaging and deployment applications, and distribution methods.
