Title: Database Engineer

Location: St. Louis, MO

Duration: 6 Months (Extendible)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Enterprise Infrastructure DATABASE engineering position:  The DATABASE engineering position exists within an Infrastructure/Shared Services organization but focuses primarily on the delivery of high-quality infrastructure designs to support complex business applications, databases and middleware component deployments.  The DATABASE engineer will provide the enterprise level database solutions in technical leadership role or subject matter expert role and will contribute to project executions in parallel.  Maturity of enterprise database technologies and mission critical business processes will be important support activities alongside technical DATABASE architecture refinements and project implementation work.

 

MUST:

·         Demonstrate a technical understanding of enterprise level database system requirement gathering process for successful project implementation

·         Demonstrate the ability to think beyond tactical/immediate project deliverables to assess impacts and mitigate risks and costs

·         Demonstrate the ability to develop system design and deployment solutions in the database function to support project executions

·         Demonstrate sound technical knowledge and professional experience in leveraging ORACLE REAL APPLICATION CLUSTER TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM as a database High Availability solution for implementing enterprise class database systems.

·         Demonstrate the ability to enforce database standards for project executions and consecutively achieve operational deployment success

·         Demonstrate hands-on experience performing Oracle database migrations from SUN SOLARIS, IBM AIX o/s platforms running legacy Oracle database releases (Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i, and 10g) to the target Enterprise Linux platform for mission critical databases.

 

SHOULD:

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of Oracle 11gR2 [Preferred], Oracle 10gR2 [Considered] RAC database platform as a service.

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of Oracle 11gR2 Grid infrastructure (GI) stack – Preferred, Oracle 10gR2 CRS stack – Considered to support Oracle RAC cluster databases

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of Oracle 11Gr2 Automatic Storage Management (ASM) stack – Preferred, Oracle 10Gr2 ASM stack – considered to support Oracle RAC cluster databases

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to and use of enterprise level database disaster recovery solution for Oracle RAC databases. [EMC SRDF/A – Preferred, Oracle DataGuard  - Considered]

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with OS/DB platform migrations of legacy Oracle database releases involving multi –terabyte databases from (AIX/SOLARIS/WINDOWS)/Oracle  to (Linux)/Oracle RAC

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure in implementing Oracle databases on SAN/storage technologies (EMC DMX is preferred)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Oracle enterprise monitoring technologies (Oracle EM Grid control tool is preferred)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience in conforming and adapting to standard documentation methods for database solutions

·         Demonstrate an understanding of some quality/maturity methodology (ITIL [Preferred], Six Sigma, etc.)

 

MAY:

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to SAP applications (ABAP & JAVA stack) from a support/infrastructure perspective

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to JBoss, WebLogic, or other J2EE application server from an installation/support perspective

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to WebMethods ESB or other Enterprise Service Bus technology from an installation/support perspective

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Informatica (ETL or MDM) from an installation/support perspective

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with automated provisioning, patching, and compliance-checking/-enforcement tools (Oracle EM Grid control packs are preferred, other tools will be considered)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Cisco UCS (blades) as a computing platform

·         Demonstrate recent, professional experience with Microsoft Project

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to HP Project and Portfolio Management (PPM)

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to EMC Documentum

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to Business Intelligence (BI) components

·         Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to centralized scheduling tools (BMC Control-M is preferred, other tools will be considered)
