Project Manager (Windows, System administrator, Active Directory,PMP)
Location: Stamford, CT
Duration: 6 months initially, then client will look to extend longer term
Rate:$70 per/hr on c2c (MAX)
Windows 7 Conversion Project Manager
Responsibilities would include:
. Drive and deliver highly complex Infrastructure Technology projects
. Understand project goals and ensure that the project is on track to deliver these goals
. Manage projects in accordance with internal project standards
. Define and manage the scope, schedule, budget and plan for projects throughout the lifecycle
. Create and maintain key project management artifacts in compliance with internal standards & best practices, including: Risks & Issues Logs, Status Reports, Project Plans, Change
Control Log, etc.
. Ensure that all project changes and decisions are logged and managed
. Define communications needs and overall communication plan for project
. Establish and communicate expectations for project and resource plan administration and responsibilities
. Actively manage all significant issues and risks and escalate as necessary
. Report to the Program Management team on key milestones, risks and issues and dependencies
. Assemble an excellent project team and manage them throughout the project
. Manage engagements with outside 3rd party service providers/vendors
. Hold project sponsor/owner and project resources, internal and external, accountable to the agreed plan and for timely decision making & prioritization
. Provide project support as agreed upon with project sponsor/owner
. Communicate project status and progress to appropriate stakeholders including the Program Management team, IT PMO, C-level executives
and other stakeholders across the firm depending on impact of the program
. Log and manage all project changes and decisions, and report to the program management team as defined by program guidelines
. Define communication needs and execute upon the project level communication plan
. Establish and communicate expectations for project and resource plan administration and responsibilities
. Facilitate project level planning sessions with project Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)and program resources
. Create project specific business case needs and documentation as appropriate
. Oversee budget and financial tracking for the project(s), working within overall program management processes
. Utilize or create supplementary tracking mechanisms as needed to understand project progress
Position Requirements:
. 5+ years of responsibility for project management and related experience in technology
. Experience and knowledge with project management frameworks
. Experience with technology project initiatives such as desktop or OS conversion initiatives preferred
. Ability to project mange work efforts related to domain areas such as: Application Engineering, Operating System Builds and Images, Hardware, Infrastructure, Security Tools,
Service Management Engineering, Release Management, Testing Lab/Environments, Architecture Governance, Security Governance, and/or Testing/Quality Assurance
. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills including customer / client communication skills
. Solid understanding of intersection between tech operations, engineering and project/delivery management
. Strong presentation skills, from creation of a PowerPoint document to the actual delivery of the presentation
. Strong experience with core Microsoft tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint)
. Experience building and leading high performance teams comprised of employees and consultants from multiple vendors
. Creative, common-sense approach to problem solving
. Proven decision-making capabilities and sound judgment, objectively evaluating pros, cons, trade-offs and alternatives among options
. Commitment to a high level of integrity, honesty, and openness
. Ability to hold self and others accountable
. Ability to look beneath the surface to perceive the true state of projects, anticipate risks, and problems and mitigate them
. Capable of multi-tasking in an ambiguous and changing environment
. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
. Demonstrated capability to take ownership of problems and goals to resolution rather than simply applying best efforts
. Flexible, open-minded, and comfortable giving and receiving feedback
. Ability to engage in constructive debate and sometimes conflict in order to arrive at better solutions
. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating a consistent commitment and ability to work with diverse work groups and individuals
. Demonstrated capability to share thought process behind approaches and decisions
. Project and / or Program Management certification (e.g., PMI, Prince2) strongly preferred
. Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related field
