Position:  Performance Tester

Location: Jacksonville, FL

Duration: 6-12 months

Description:

         As a Performance Engineer, you will work as member of the Performance Test Team and will play a critical role in ensuring that all applications under the test meet their performance requirements, including high availability and reliability. This hands-on role is required to have a deep understanding of complex web services and underlying technologies

Responsibilities:

. Develop testing approach, and detailed performance test plans for new releases 

. Design and develop performance test scenarios 

.Execute performance test scenarios, tracking and reporting on KPIs and 

metrics 

. Profile slow performing areas of the application and identify bottlenecks and opportunities for performance improvements 

. Escalate performance problems to Engineering as required and drive their resolutions to closure 

. Establish and manage performance benchmarks for product acceptance Manage and maintain the performance test environment including application deployments, performance test data, scripts, scenarios, results and tools 

. Work closely with customer-facing teams to set expectations, present performance test reports and deliver latest status 

Requirements:

. 3+ years of web application performance testing and analysis 

. Experience building test harnesses to measure and analyze performance . Expert at using and customizing load generation/measurement tools (client/server side) 

. Understanding of software performance issues and bottlenecks 

. Understanding of web application performance and capacity planning 

. Deep understanding of caching technologies and strategies 

. Working knowledge of: TCP/IP, networking topology, routers, switches. Operating system design, administration and tuning (e.g. Linux, Solaris). Web and application servers (e.g. Apache, Tomcat, jBOSS)

. Strong quantitative thinking skills 

. Excellent critical thinking and problem solving abilities 

. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

.      B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
